RAÍZES VIVAS - História do Orfanato: Ilha de Santana
The "Raízes Vivas" project is the vitality of local stories and the people who preserve them.

With an innovative artistic approach, Living Roots collects historical accounts from the community and local tradition. At the same time, this is documented with audiovisual work, artist Cris Guedes creates an artistic canvas that captures the essence of each location, while an embedded documentary reveals the backstage and the creative process, both synthesizing the collected accounts and transforming them into art. The documentary is made available through a QR code that accompanies the canvas.

The recording took place on Santana Island - Santana, Amapá, Brazil - community reports about the old orphanage, the disappearance of children, and the legend of the Cobra Grande served as background for the construction of the work. The canvas created by Cris is destined for Barcelona - Catalonia, Spain - where it will be part of the International Contemporary Art Fair, in Montjuïc.
